Overview

I am an engineer with over 15 years of hands-on experience in technology. During this time I have worked with organizations large and small to deploy mission critical infrastructure and technology solutions. This has ranged from architecting automation for major telecom providers, network engineering of high traffic websites, and everything in between. I have a true passion for technology and I share that passion and help others adopt the technology that I work with.

Work Experience

Code Incarnate Technologies, LLC.

Chief Manager, Operations Engineering & Software Engineering // ​Jul 2008 to Present

Managed technology for the Purina Retail Innovation Center (RIC) including cloud servers, a fleet of iPads, a touch screen wall, jumbotron, and other interactive technology. Worked with stakeholders at the innovation center to plan and implement new software, networking, and hardware updates. Solved key technical challenges for ongoing mission critical operations at the RIC.

Created Ansible and Terraform based automated web site hosting platform for small and medium businesses. Platform handles all aspects of hosting including provisioning, DNS, SSL, code deployment, and configuration. Platform hosts mission critical sites

Architected successful technology solutions in a wide variety of industries with clients including SpaceX, Johnson and Johnson, and 3M. Coached stakeholders and team members in the adoption of new technology and processes.

Senior Engineer // ​Nov 2018 to January 2021

Architected and implemented Ansible based automation for mission critical infrastructure including software defined networks, DNS, routing, code deployments, and testing. Lead initiative to adopt automation throughout the company. The automation was subsequently adopted for all company hosting and directly led to a sharp decrease in downtime incidents and failed deployments.

Designed and planned cloud computing infrastructure for three major national internet service providers. Developed and implemented Ansible and Terraform automation for server infrastructure, load balancing, firewall rules, code deployments, and other network services.

Mentored junior team members in new processes and technology. Worked with stakeholders throughout the company to establish key project success metrics. Planned technology for multiple projects. Created and shared new engineering processes throughout the company.

Technical Lead // ​Jan 2010 to Dec 2011

Lead hosting and operations for mission critical websites and back office applications. Managed performance and scalability for high performance (greater than 1M views/day) websites. Architected and worked closely with the team to deliver successful projects to Cornell University, John Hopkins, Mozilla, and many others.

Managed a team of engineers creating technology solutions. This included coaching team members in engineering processes, developing technology, and planning overall projects. Mentored team members in the adoption of new technologies.
